How to save an article as PDF without ads
To save a webpage’s article as a PDF without ads, open it in Article to PDF, choose Preview & edit, remove anything you don’t want, and click Save PDF. The extension automatically removes as much advertising, navigation and promotional clutter as it can while extracting the main article. Some unwanted blocks may remain, so check the preview and remove them if needed. To print the article without ads, open the saved PDF and print it from your PDF reader.
Save a clean PDF in three steps
- Open the article and choose Preview & edit. With Article to PDF installed in desktop Chrome or Edge, wait for the article’s text and images to load. Click the extension icon, then choose Preview & edit. If you’ve set a direct click action, right-click the icon to choose Preview & edit instead.
- Check the text and remove unwanted blocks. Compare the title, paragraphs and ending with the original. Hover over a paragraph, heading or image you don’t need, then click the trash button labelled Remove this block. Use Undo last deletion in the toolbar if you remove too much.
- Click Save PDF and check the result. If the article is longer than one page and you don’t have full access, pick a Pro plan, or keep just page 1 with Save page 1 only (free) (on later saves, Save page 1 for free). Open the download, check the final paragraph, and try selecting text or following a link. Print this PDF if you want a paper copy.
Choose Preview & edit when you want to check or remove content. Quick save PDF saves the cleaned article directly, without opening the editor. Full article export is included with Pro, with early-user access and in your first five full PDFs. Otherwise, Free saves the complete PDF when the article fits on one page and only the first page of a longer one.
See the article before and after cleanup
Try the demonstration article, a fictional field note with navigation, an advertisement placeholder and a newsletter promotion. Follow the three steps above to compare its cleaned text with the original.
Remove a block before saving
Ad removal happens automatically before the preview opens; you don’t need to delete each ad yourself. If an ad or other unwanted block remains inside the extracted article, you can remove it manually. In the demonstration, try hovering over the paragraph beginning “A saved copy preserves the text” and clicking its trash button. The paragraph disappears from the preview and will be absent from your next PDF export. Click Undo last deletion to restore it before saving the complete example.
Open the real PDF result
The existing example PDF contains the complete demonstration article, before any optional block deletion. Search for amber leaf notebook, check the final sentence, and try the “original demonstration article” link. The navigation and advertisement placeholder are absent.
Ready to save your own article without ads?
When Chrome printing is enough
Try Chrome’s Print → Save as PDF first if you want the site’s layout or the site already supplies a clean print view. Print results depend on that site’s print styles. Use the article preview when you prefer extracted reading text, and compare it with the original before saving.
If something is missing
Wait for images or expandable sections to load, close the preview, and try again. Extraction may omit captions, tables or content outside the main article. Removing blocks can trim unwanted content, but it cannot recover text that was not extracted. If extraction fails or loses important context, use the publisher’s print view or Chrome printing and inspect that output.
