PRIVACY POLICY Article to PDF — Save Pages Without Ads https://article-to-pdf.com Last updated: March 26, 2026 1. INTRODUCTION Article to PDF ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our browser extension ("Extension") handles information when you use it. The short version: Article content extraction and PDF generation happen entirely on your device. The only external communication occurs if you purchase a Pro license, in which case your license key is validated through our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy. This Privacy Policy complies with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies. 2. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT Article to PDF is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect: - Personal identifiers (name, email address, phone number, etc.) - Browsing history or web activity - Location data - Usage statistics or analytics - Cookies or tracking pixels - Any data that could be used to identify you personally We do not operate our own servers and do not receive any article content, browsing data, or personal information from the Extension. 3. INFORMATION PROCESSED FOR PRO LICENSES If you purchase a Pro license, the following limited data is processed: a) License Key: When you activate or validate a Pro license, your license key and a non-personal instance identifier (your Chrome extension ID) are sent to Lemon Squeezy (our payment processor) for verification. This is the only external network request the Extension makes. b) License Data Stored Locally: Your license key, license status, validation timestamp, and customer portal URL are stored in Chrome's synced storage (chrome.storage.sync) on your device. This data may sync across your Chrome profiles if you are signed into Chrome, but it is never sent to us. c) Payment Information: All payment processing is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy. We never receive, see, or store your credit card number, billing address, or other financial details. Please refer to Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy for how they handle payment data: https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy If you use only the free version of the Extension, no data of any kind is transmitted externally. 4. HOW THE EXTENSION WORKS When you use Article to PDF, the following happens entirely on your local device: a) Content Extraction: The Extension reads the content of the active web page in your browser to extract the article text, images, and metadata (title, author, date). b) Temporary Session Storage: Extracted content is held temporarily in Chrome's session storage (chrome.storage.session) solely for the purpose of rendering the article preview. This data is automatically cleared when you close your browser. c) PDF Generation: The PDF is generated locally on your device using Chrome's built-in printing capabilities via the Chrome DevTools Protocol (debugger API). No content is sent to any external server. d) File Download: The generated PDF is saved directly to your device through Chrome's downloads API. Article content is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. The only external communication is license validation for Pro users (see Section 3). 5. BROWSER PERMISSIONS The Extension requests certain browser permissions to function. Here is what each permission is used for and why it is necessary: - activeTab: To access the content of the web page you are currently viewing when you activate the Extension. - scripting: To inject the content extraction script into the active page. - debugger: To use Chrome's built-in PDF generation capabilities locally on your device. - downloads: To save the generated PDF file to your device. - storage: To temporarily hold extracted content in session storage, and to store Pro license status in synced storage. - webNavigation: To detect page navigation events for the active tab. - host_permissions (): To allow the Extension to extract content from any website you choose to use it on. None of these permissions are used to monitor your browsing activity or collect personal data. 6. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES The Extension integrates with one third-party service: - Lemon Squeezy (https://www.lemonsqueezy.com): Used exclusively for Pro license activation, validation, and payment processing. Only your license key and extension instance ID are sent to Lemon Squeezy. Their privacy policy is available at https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy. We do not use: - Google Analytics or any analytics service - Advertising or tracking scripts - Social media integrations - Error reporting or crash analytics services 7. DATA STORAGE The Extension uses two types of Chrome storage: a) Session Storage (chrome.storage.session): Temporarily holds extracted article content while you preview it. This data is automatically cleared when you close your browser, is local to your device only, and is never synced or transmitted externally. b) Synced Storage (chrome.storage.sync): Stores Pro license information (license key, status, validation timestamp, customer portal URL). This data may sync across your Chrome profiles via your Google account if you are signed into Chrome. This is managed by Chrome, not by us. We do not use cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, or any other storage mechanism. 8. DATA SHARING We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer any personal information to third parties. The only data shared externally is your license key with Lemon Squeezy for the sole purpose of license verification (see Section 3). This applies to all other parties, including: - Advertisers - Data brokers - Analytics providers - Government agencies (we have no data to provide even if requested) - Parent companies, subsidiaries, or affiliates 9.
